
GRANTS ASSISTANT
Overview:
The Grants Assistant is a part-time entry level position providing administrative support for grants management activities. This person assists in monitoring reporting schedules, deadlines, and requirements to ensure consistent and effective grant processing. The successful candidate will be a smart, high-energy person, who can multi-task. S/he must have strong organizational and clerical skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels of the Foundation. This position reports to the Grants Administrator. Ideal hours for this position would be 3 days a week, approximately 6 hours each day.
Responsibilities:
• Organizes and maintains files
• Answers phone and refer inquiries
• Assists in tracking inquiries and proposals
• Assist in the maintenance of the grants database
• Responds to general e-mail inquiries
• Drafts routine correspondence
• Assists with preparation of Board Materials
• Assists in tracking of requirements
• Provides data entry and general office support for grants processing
• Communicates internally with program staff
• Communicates externally with applicants/grantees
• Serves as backup for Grants Administrator
• Undertakes special projects as assigned
• Serves as back-up for the receptionist as needed
• Assist in other program/admin areas upon request
Qualifications:
• Some college and 1 to 2 years of administrative experience
• Strong computer skills; proficient in Windows-based word processing, spread sheets, databases, and internet programs
• Excellent proofreading/editing skills
• Attention to detail and deadlines
• Excellent oral and communication skills
• Ability to work without supervision and be a strong team player in a multicultural environment
• Knowledge of MicroEdge Gifts for Windows a plus
