Founded in 1979, the Alliance for Justice is an association of 65 civil rights, women's, consumer, legal, environmental, and public interest organizations. Its core program areas include: the Judicial Selection Project, the Nonprofit Advocacy Project and the Foundation Advocacy Initiative. Under the auspices of this grant, the Alliance will offer workshops and other technical assistance to help JEHT Foundation staff and its grantees around the legal and regulatory structures that govern nonprofit advocacy.

Voter Turnout Experiments

Project Vote provides professional training, management, evaluation and technical services on civic engagement and voter participation activities in low-income and minority communities. USAction Education Fund provides training, coordination, voter registration, issue-education, get-out-the-vote programs, and voter defense legal support to engage communities in democracy. Clean Water Fund is a research and educational organization that works with community residents and organizations to expand civic engagement through non-partisan voter registration, education, and participation. This grant supports a collaborative effort by the three groups to conduct randomized, controlled field experiments to test and answer some of the most pressing questions about get-out-the-vote strategies arising from the 2004 elections.
