The JEHT Foundation has appointed Nicole Gordon as its new vice-president effective September 1, 2006. For the past 18 years Nicole has served as the Executive Director of the New York City Campaign Finance Board, an independent reform agency that is considered a model in the field of campaign finance. Gordon will oversee the Foundation's programs in criminal justice, international justice, fair and participatory elections and palliative care for the chronically ill and dying. She will work closely with the president and board in shaping the Foundation's future directions.

"I am delighted that Nicole has chosen to join the Foundation at this time," said Robert Crane, president and CEO of the Foundation. "She brings a wealth of experience in the public sector to the position, a serious and disciplined approach to her work, and a wonderful sense of openness to new ideas and issues."

Prior to her appointment to the Board, Ms. Gordon served as Counsel to the Chairman of the New York State Commission on Government Integrity and as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Law Department of the City of New York, finishing as an Assistant Chief in the General Litigation Division.

She has been a recipient of several awards recognizing her outstanding public service, including New York State Common Cause's "I Love an Ethical New York" Award; the New York County Lawyers' Association Public Service Award; Columbia University Law School's Lawrence A. Wien Prize for Social Responsibility; and selection as a Wasserstein Public Interest Fellow at Harvard Law School. She is a past President of the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws, which recognized her with its Outstanding Service Award.

Nicole Gordon graduated from Columbia University School of Law and earned a Bachelor's degree in Classical Greek from Barnard College.
